Troubleshooting setup wizard

If you experience any issues with the PowerGUI installation wizard please try the following steps to troubleshoot:

  1. . If you are trying to run the msi from a remote file share or via terminal services, copy the msi file to the computer and run it locally instead.
  2. . Reboot the system, shut down everything that is not necessary (including the tray icon programs, background processes that you can do without for a few minutes, and so on).
  3. . If these do not help, start Windows command prompt (in Windows Vista and later make sure you do Run as Administrator), cd to the location of the msi file and start installation from the command prompt with logging turned on: msiexec /i PowerGUI..msi /L*v PowerGUI_Setup_Log.log
  4. . If the setup still does not work properly please go to the PowerGUI discussion forum and post the issue there. Make sure you tell us which OS and PowerShell version you have, and attach the log file.
